The latest trailer for CREED has dropped and I will do a Quick Take on that in the near future. Being that this is the 7th film in the series a moment should be taken to reflect on the original film from 1976 and what made that film so special. Sylvester Stallone used to be a decent actor. For those of you that are still paying attention, this is a true statement. Before he and the series became a prime example of self-parody he could be an compelling figure screen presence. Though he will never win an Academy Award for acting, this scene from the original ROCKY is an example of how tender he can be. The night before his big fight with Apollo Creed he confesses to his girlfriend Adrian his fears about the fight and his goal of going the distance with the champ. Done in one continuous shot and completed in one take Stallone, who also wrote the script, is able to show Rocky’s vulnerability and desire to be someone. Stallone has never been better on film.
