The upcoming POINT BREAK remake is another in a long line of pointless remake that makes me question the ability of Hollywood to make an original film. While not great the original film from 1991 starring post-ROADHOUSE Patrick Swayze, pre-MATRIX Keanu Reeves and pre-mental patient Gary Busy
offered guilty pleasure type entertainment. Upon viewing the latest trailer it appears that the emphasis is not on cheese but a sincere attempt to make a more action oriented film featuring a variety of stunts that seem to defy logic especially the final shot. The lack of star power in the film shows me that the studio is coasting on brand recognition alone and are ripping off not only the original film but the FAST AND FURIOUS series as well. However the appearance of Delroy Lindo made me at least pay attention to this underwhelming trailer.
POINT BREAK opens 12/25/15 and will be in (sigh) 3D.
